Description
Digitised, digitally restored and published as a digital print edition. Uniformenkunde, published from 1890 to 1921 by "Verlag Max Babenzien", Rathenow, is considered the main work of the historical painter Richard Knötel (1857-1914). It has remained a standard and source work to the present day. It was published in folders with loose sheets, volumes I and II with 50 sheets each, the following volumes with 60 sheets each, a total of 1060 picture plates. From volume III onwards, additional notes supplemented the explanatory texts of the plates. After Richard Knötel's early death in 1914, his son Herbert Knötel the Younger completed the last volume, No. XVIII.
This work of uniform history has already been published in various ways in the past. This is now to be followed by the digital print edition of the complete Uniformenkunde including the Mitteilungen published from Volume III onwards, divided into 6 parts. Part 2, presented here, contains volumes V to VII together with the corresponding communications.
