The Henning-von-Tresckow barracks in Geltow (municipality of Schwielowsee) was one of the starting points of German criminal warfare in the Second World War. During the time of the GDR, not only was national defence planned there, but it also secured the SED dictatorship. In 1990, democratically legitimised, all-German armed forces moved into the Geltow property for the first time with the Bundeswehr.
The volumes of the series "Stand. Point. Ort" series (here volume 1) of the ZMSBw offer a compact military history with a view to regional history and historical biographies on the basis of barracks and facilities of the Bundeswehr.
