Description
Historical novel. At the end of the 9th century, the Danish conquerors have subjugated all five English kingdoms. The entire land of the Anglo-Saxons is in the grip of the invaders - with the exception of a small area of swampland. Here King Alfred of Wessex is hiding with a few faithful. Uhtred, a warrior in Alfred's service, knows exactly the superiority of the Danish army. Nevertheless, Alfred wants to fight a last, decisive battle. The pious king relies on God's help, but Uhtred prefers to trust his battle-hardened sword. But the two unequal allies are in complete agreement about one thing: defeat would be the downfall of England.
