In the late summer of 1944, the skies over the German Reich largely belong to the Allies. In addition to the heavy bombers of the Americans and the British, the fast de Havilland DH.98 "Mosquito" of the "Light Night Striking Force" now also fly missions over German cities night after night, dropping their bomb load almost unhindered. And the "Mosquito" crews know: Apart from the flak, they have almost no enemy to fear. Almost - because with fast single-engine Messerschmitt Bf 109s, first the 10th /Jagdgeschwader 300, later the II /Nachtjagdgeschwader 11 flies targeted missions against the fast bombers. And from December 1944, the first night fighter missions with the Messerschmitt Me 262 also took place. Initially set up as "Kommando Welter" and later taken over as 10th/NJG 11, a small number of experienced pilots flew the single-seat Me 262 A, later also the double-seat Me 262 B-1a/U1 in night fighter missions.
The hitherto little-known history of night fighter operations with the Me 262 is documented in this book on 596 pages - 160 b/w photos, 69 facsimile documents, 24 maps and fly-in charts, as well as 12 tables complement the history of this unique squadron and its night hunt for the "Mosquito", which has been worked out on the basis of archive material, flight logs, experience reports and personal interviews.
