In this volume, Hanna Reitsch, the famous German pilot, describes the years of her life from 1912 to 1945: her happy childhood in Silesia and her flying training, which quickly led her to performance areas that made the world sit up and take notice, her encounters with the powerful of the Nazi regime, her work as a test pilot with the world's first indoor helicopter flight and "manned" rocket test flights, as well as her legendary flight into Berlin, which was already surrounded, in April 1945 with Field Marshal Ritter von Greim. The memoir ends with Hanna Reitsch's internment by the Americans after the German surrender.
