Volume 29 of the series "Imágenes de Guetrra". Although it is known that Spain never officially took part in the Second World War, quite a few Spanish pilots were able to gain concrete operational experience during the war years 1939-1945. In the course of the war operations of the Allies and the Axis powers, there were repeated violations of Spanish airspace, especially in the south of the Iberian Peninsula and in the area of the Canary archipelago, to which the newly created Spanish air forces had to react accordingly.
On the other hand, the members of the so-called "Blue Squadrons", which were volunteer units that fought against the USSR as part of the German Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front, gained real war experience. This aspect of the history of the Spanish Air Force in World War 2 is given special attention here. This work takes an illuminating look at the hitherto little-known history of the Spanish Air Force in WW2, covering not only the fighter squadrons but also the bomber, fighter-bomber and seaplane units. It shows with many details and interesting facts the use of the Spanish pilots and aircrews not only in combat with the USSR, but also in action against the Allies.
