Marcel Grob, an old man of 83, stands trial on 11 October 2009 to answer for his life. For 28 June 1944, to be precise, the day he joined the 16th SS Panzergrenadier Division "Reichsführer SS" at the age of 17. Marcel vividly remembers that day, when he was forced into military service by the SS along with 10,000 Alsatians. He never wanted to fight, he had no choice. But he also has to convince the judge and the jury of this. And so Marcel Grob dives deep into the painful memories of his time as a soldier in the Italian campaign, which will also take him to Marzabotto, to one of the most horrific massacres in the history of war.
Philippe Collin and Sébastien Goethals tell the story, based on historical facts, of a French boy who was forced to take part in the cruellest battles of the Nazi era. This comc-style narrative is complemented by an 11-page historical appendix.
