Antonio Fulmini, born in 1895, infantry officer and machine gunner, voluntarily joined the Arditi in 1918. He was assigned to the XVIII, then the XXVIII assault division, which always operated in the lower Piave area. He took part in all of his unit's combat operations and became the most decorated soldier, receiving one silver medal and two bronze medals. As a friend of Father Reginaldo Giuliani, the most famous chaplain of the Arditi, he decided to recount his war memories in this book, first published in 1938 and now very rare, and to illustrate it with drawings. Fulmini's extensive biography, supplemented by often unpublished photos and documents, as well as the history of the XXVIII Assault Battalion with all its decorated and fallen soldiers, enrich and complete the original text.
