Description
Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill (b. 30 November 1874 in Woodstock, England; Ä 24 January 1965 in London) is considered the most important British statesman of the 20th century. He was Prime Minister from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955 and led Great Britain through the Second World War.
According to some authors, Churchill was responsible for the British Admiralty's failure to warn the passenger liner RMS Lusitania, which was transporting civilian passengers and rüstungsgüter from New York to Liverpool, of a German U-boat in 1915, in order to persuade the USA to enter the war on the side of the Entente. To date, however, no documentary evidence of this has been found. The historian IstvÃn DeÃk classifies these authors as revisionists. -Wikipedia-
