Description
The Cheyenne are a tribe of Native Americans of North America whose ancestors once lived west of the Great Lakes in the area of the Northeastern Woodland culture area, but who, along with the culturally as well as linguistically related Arapaho, were forced to move west and southwest to escape pressure from the rifle-armed and militarily superior Ojibwa and Assiniboine; by 1750, both peoples were the dominant military as well as political power of the Central Plains and Front Range in western Nebraska and Kansas, southeastern Wyoming, and eastern Colorado, and, as nomadic Plains Indians, belonged to the Prairie and Plains culture area. -Wikipedia-
