Otto Moritz Walter Model (* 24 January 1891 in Genthin, Province of Saxony; 21 April 1945 near Duisburg) was a German army officer (from 1944 Field Marshal) and during the Second World War Commander-in-Chief of various armies and army groups and briefly Commander-in-Chief West in 1944. Due to the atrocities against the civilian population that he ordered, he was added to the Soviet Union's list of war criminals. He was considered a supporter of Hitler among Wehrmacht officers and was also called "Hitler's fireman" in the German staffs because from 1943 onwards he was repeatedly sent to various critical points on the (Eastern) front to bring the situation under control. - Wikipedia -
