Antonio LËpez de Santa Anna PÃrez de LebrËn (also spelled Santa Ana; * 21 February 1794 in Xalapa; Ä 21 June 1876 in Mexico City) was a Mexican general and politician. He was head of state of Mexico eight times, or eleven times if one counts the constant changes of office with his vice-president ValentÃn GËmez FarÃas in the first term (präsidencies 1833ľ35; 1839; 1841ľ42, 1843, 1844; 1846ľ47; 1847; 1853ľ55) and was sent into ëlifelongô exile füfive times.
