The Battle of Borodino (also: Battle of Moschaisk) was a battle of the Napoleonic Russian campaign. On 26 August and 7 September 1812greg, the French Grande Armée led by Napoleon and the Russian army under General Kutuzov fought one of the bloodiest battles of the 19th century at Borodino. Napoleon replaced him with General Auguste de Caulaincourt. Further French cavalry attacks followed. In the afternoon, the redoubt was finally captured by cavalry and infantry from the corps of Ney and Eugène, but Caulaincourt was also mortally wounded. - Wikipedia -
