Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, Duke of Bronte, KB (* 29 September 1758 in Burnham Thorpe, Norfolk, England; 21 October 1805, off Cape Trafalgar, Spain) was a British vice-admiral. His numerous victories include the battles of St Vincent in 1797, Abukir in 1798, Copenhagen in 1801 and Trafalgar in 1805. Nelson is considered the most important officer in the history of the Royal Navy and a British national hero. n the period between 22 and 25 July 1797, Nelson unsuccessfully attempted to capture the port and city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with a fleet during an attack on Santa Cruz. During an unsuccessful landing manoeuvre, he was shot in the right arm. His arm was then amputated up to the shoulder by the ship's doctor. - Wikipedia -
