On a wooden base. Out of print from the manufacturer. Gerhard Johann David von Scharnhorst (* 12 November 1755 in Bordenau, today part of Neustadt am Rübenberge; until 28 June 1813 in Prague) was a Prussian general. Alongside August Count Neidhardt von Gneisenau, he was - as Chairman of the Military Reorganisation Commission from July 1807 - the decisive organiser of the momentous Prussian army reform. As he most clearly recognised the connection between military reform and social change, he is still regarded today as the most exemplary of the military reformers of the time of the Wars of Liberation.-Wikipedia-
