Throughout history, many aircraft types have retained the natural metal finish of their construction, either partially or across their entire surface, while many others have been painted with a silver or other metallic finish. Among these are iconic planes like the P-51 Mustang, P-38 Lightning, B-29, Ju 52, F-86 Sabre, F-104 Starfighter, BAC Lightning, and most Soviet post-war aircraft such as the MiG-15, MiG-17, MiG-19, MiG-21, and the famous Soviet bombers Bear Tu-95 and Tu-142. These are just a few well-known examples, but the list of military and civilian aircraft that feature or have featured metallic finishes is endless. In addition, we have also included the valuable resource A.MIG-6532 Solution Book 27: How to Paint Metal Finished Aircrafts, containing easy to use techniques in four languages (English, Spanish, French and German). This complete 71-page guide with step-by-step tutorials explains how to paint and weather these distinctive metal finishes on your aircraft models.
With this Solution Box, you can paint metal finishes, create weathering effects on metal, and add dirt effects to the metallic areas of any aircraft. Most of the techniques described are optional, and its up to you to decide whether or not to apply them. If you want to improve your weathering techniques, we recommend trying them all. This box includes all the necessary and most suitable products to create the effects described. If you follow the application order and drying times, youll be rewarded with excellent results. You can recreate any level of wear on your metallic aircraft models by varying the intensity of each effect. The aircraft used as an example in this book is Tamiyas 1/48 scale P-51D Mustang, but the same techniques and products work for any other aircraft with a metallic finish. Now choose your favorite model and let a master modeler guide you step by step!
