The fleet of the world's largest airline, measured in terms of flights completed and passengers flown, consists of over 1000 aircraft, not including the fleets of its regional subsidiaries. While the longer A321 has now taken on a larger role in fleet planning, American Airlines currently operates 48 Airbus A320s in a standardised seating configuration with twelve seats in business class and 138 seats in economy class.
