From the 2nd millennium BC, two-wheeled chariots with spoked wheels were used. They were in general use until about the 5th century BC. Britons, Persians and Indians used it at least until around the time of Christ's birth; the Persians also used sickle chariots (also called scythe chariots), which were equipped with sharp blades on the axles.
