Frontal, in parade march
Engraving: Rolf Grünewald
The German War, also Prussian-Austrian War, of 1866 was the armed conflict between the German Confederation led by Austria on the one hand and Prussia and its allies on the other. These allies included not only German states but also Italy. The conflict was the second of the so-called German Wars of Unification after the preceding German-Danish War and before the Franco-Prussian War that followed in 1870/71.
