General Uxbridge was the commander of the British cavalry at Waterloo in 1815 and also second in command to Field Marshal Wellington. He lost a leg in the battle. Staff officer Fitzroy Somerset, later Lord Raglan (famous for the Crimean War in 1854), lost his right arm at Waterloo. The scene shows the cavalry staff of the British Army on the attack together with a regiment of Guards cavalry, the "Blues & Royals".
