The Moche formed an advanced civilisation in northern Peru from the 2nd to the 7th century AD. From excavations in Sipan we can get a fairly good picture of this culture. Numerous painted ceramics have been preserved, which show the daily life of the Moche. According to this, it was a military aristocracy that waged many wars and brought in numerous captives who were subsequently sacrificed.
The Moche culture (after the river Moche, also Mochica) developed from the 1st century to the 8th century on the northern coast of Peru (South America). Like its successor, the Chimú culture, it had its centre in the area of the modern city of Trujillo. - Wikipedia -
