Description
Berlin servant or errand boy. Berlin original, c. 1835, 7.5 cm, painted.
The corner man Nante, actually Ferdinand Strumpf (* 1803; ?), was a Berlin servant with the police concession number 22 (noted on a brass number plate worn around the arm). Nante was located on the corner of Königstraße and Neue Friedrichstraße - not far from the Eulner distillery, where he used to stop. Waiting on the street corner for odd jobs, he commented on what was happening around him with a joke that made him a Berlin original. - Wikipedia -
