TFC release petroleum jelly serves as a release agent in the production of multi-part silicone molds, separating silicone from silicone and silicone rubber from other materials and surfaces when molding original models.
Release vaseline is thinly applied to the already hardened first half of the silicone mold and the newly mixed silicone is poured onto it for the second half of the mold. This prevents the two mold halves from sticking together.
Separating petroleum jelly is also ideally suited to protect the original model when taking an impression with silicone rubber, to allow the finished cast to be easily removed from the mold and to avoid damage, e.g. Adhesion and detachment of an existing color application in the original model.
It is also important when molding open-pore materials such as plaster models without a closed surface or wooden surfaces without sealing. Here, the separating petroleum jelly closes the open-pore surface and thus prevents the applied silicone rubber from flowing into the pores and cannot be removed cleanly after curing.
Separating petroleum jelly is applied thinly with a brush. The application is easier if it is warmed up slightly before application.
