"Selva": this little word from the Brazilian language has been punctuating the conversations of the legionnaires serving in the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the French Foreign Legion every day for years and sometimes means a thank you, sometimes a denial, sometimes a question or quite specifically the acceptance of an order received.
Is this just unnecessary coquetry that has no great use other than to emphasise the exoticism of the Amazon rainforest in everyday language?
Or is it more than a simple connecting word, namely an idea that is too rich to be expressed in more erudite words!
