Plastic model kit of a Soviet WWII fighter aircraft with 79 parts. Length built 118 mm. The Yak-1 was the first fighter aircraft developed by the Yakovlev Design Bureau and had its first flight on January 13, 1940. The aircraft had a mixed construction with wooden wings and tips and a truss fuselage made of steel tubes with canvas skin. The fighter was well armed with a 20 mm Shvak cannon and two synchronized 7.62 mm Shkas machine guns mounted above the engine. The Yak-1 was the most successful of the new pre-war generation of Soviet serial fighters (MiG-3, LaGG-3 and Yak-1), combining good flight data with simple controls. Yak-1 fighters fought on all Soviet fronts of World War II and made a significant contribution in the fight against the German Luftwaffe and its allies during the most difficult period of the war.
