The Tu-95MS "Bear" is a strategic missile bomber developed in the late 1970s by the Tupolev Design Bureau on the basis of the Tu-142M anti-submarine aircraft. The aircraft is designed to attack long-range to intercontinental strategic targets with long-range cruise missiles. The Tu-95MS is equipped with four NK-12MP turboprop engines fitted with coaxial propellers, which are among the most economical and powerful turboprop engines in the world, and the aircraft performs combat missions at any time of the year, on any day and in any meteorological conditions, regardless of the location of combat operations. The Tu-95MS aircraft, together with the Tu-160 aircraft, form an important part of Russia's deterrent capability for nuclear attacks.
