The T-70 was developed in the USSR in 1942/43 as the successor to the T-60 tank and was produced in large numbers (over 8,000 vehicles). The T-70 was armed with a 45-mm L/46 Model 38 cannon with 45 rounds and a coaxial 7.62-mm DT machine gun. The tank was operated by a crew of two, a driver and a commander who loaded and fired the gun. The T-70 remained in service with the Red Army throughout the Second World War.
