Die Inhaber der höchsten deutschen Tapferkeitsauszeichnung aus Sachsen in seinen politischen Grenzen von 1945. For the first time, the author Michael G. Schindler, who has been well known in military circles for decades, presents the biographies of 399 Saxon bearers of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Waffen-SS in alphabetical order in this text and picture documentation designed for three high-quality volumes.
After more than eight years of profound research in archives, estates and other private documents as well as after numerous conversations with still living holders of the Knight's Cross, photographs and documents, some of them previously unpublished, can now be presented to the interested public and the specialist audience. The reader is not only shown the military deeds that were rewarded with the Knight's Cross, but also learns about private and family matters. This work closes a regional gap in military history and phaleristic literature. An index of places and names helps the reader to find his way around.
