Volume 37 in the Wingleader Photo Archive series. This third volume covers the period around D-Day, when the Typhoon probably achieved its greatest fame; the invasion, the striped, rocket-firing Tiffies inflicting heavy casualties on German ground troops in northern France. The author has dug deep into his archives and selected some remarkable photos for this volume, including detailed close-ups of the armour plate that was attached to the radiator and also the camera installations of the FR 1B. There are also clear photos of the various dust filters that were quickly introduced in the summer of 1944 to combat the dust in Normandy. In short, everything that the model-maker or model-making companies would need to build the ultimate D-Day Typhoon.
