In this memoir two officers of the Waffen-SS have their say. The first author was a volunteer in the SS division "Wiking". After being severely wounded, he was transferred to SS duties in Berlin, where he was trained as an SS leader. As such, he experienced 20 July 1944 in Rastenburg and the proclamation of the German Volkssturm in East Prussia. With the SS Division "Nordland" he suffered through the battles in Courland until the bitter end in Berlin.
The second veteran initially belonged to the "Leibstandarte", but was then transferred to the SS Division "Wiking" and ultimately to the 15th Waffen-Grenadier Division of the SS (Latvian No. 1) as head of intelligence. He not only describes in detail the combat operations, but also reports on the training at the SS Intelligence School in Metz and the subsequent battle for the fortress of Metz in 1944. In addition to the memoirs, this book offers numerous interesting and partly unpublished photos.
