In addition to a brief account of the more than two hundred-year history of the development of field printers of various armed forces, the author documents the technical development of all types of mobile printers of the NVA of the GDR. The author describes in detail the technical changes of the polygraphic equipment and the practised procedures for the production of typical military printed matter. Numerous photographs and illustrations, published for the first time, illustrate the manufacturing practice of the mobile printing plants.
