In addition to a historical introduction on the development of mountable stabbing weapons and their importance in infantry armament, the first part is devoted to modern side rifles, which have long since become not only stabbing weapons but above all multipurpose tools. Current examples of the use of bayonets in contemporary conflicts round off this part. The second part is dedicated to historical bayonet models. There are explanations of the typology of the sidearm models: from the grommet type to the going-out version of the police deerstalker in the Third Reich, as well as digressions on the field of emergency bayonets and auxiliary models in the two world wars.
