The chain-rattling monsters and their companions have lost none of their fascination since the first "tanks" appeared on the battlefield in 1916. In 2015, "Visier" took up the extensive topic of "battle tanks" for the first time. Since then, a lot has happened: insights from the more recent conflicts of our time have had an impact on the operational concepts of armoured troops. New armament concepts are slowly making their way from the drawing board to reality. Alternative propulsion technologies are emerging. And, of course, extensive training, further training and advanced training measures are taking place. All this is covered in "Visier Special" No. 91, when it tackles the topics of driving, firing, sparking and leading with a lot of "riding spirit".
As usual, an extensive appendix with addresses, internet connections and additional information rounds off the special issue. The boom in combat vehicles that began a few years ago continues worldwide. Modern technologies are constantly improving the firepower, protection and mobility of battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armoured reconnaissance vehicles and other large-scale equipment. Likewise, engineers are developing ever more powerful sensors, working on automated systems and networking platforms to form large battle groups.
