The Northrop T-38 "Talon" has been in training service with the American and German Air Forces for more than 50 years. No other supersonic training aircraft can look back on such a long period of service. This speaks for the quality of this aircraft. German jet pilots have been trained on this type since the early 1960s. Almost every active and retired pilot has flown this type. A great nostalgia factor comes into play here.
