In the early 1960s, the KMT-5 system was introduced. This uses a lighter-weight mine trawl in conjunction with the KMT-5mine rakes. The chain stretched between the two roller sections has a dog-bone attached in the center which is intended to detonate any tilt-mines which might otherwise slip through the center of the trawl and detonate under the tanks belly.
