The German Armed Forces have the world's most advanced systems for A, B and C reconnaissance and decontamination. This equipment is based on mature technical developments and will remain in use for many years to come. Nevertheless, new technologies and processes that are more powerful than those used to date are constantly being tested. The most important systems used by the troops are the TEP 90 decontamination equipment based on the heavy 15-tonne 8x8 FSA truck, the light decontamination forces based on the protected Mungo special vehicle for airmobile units, and the Fuchs reconnaissance tank as a heavy armoured component. This publication describes in detail the structure of the Bundeswehr's current NBC defence forces, their possible applications and the special and support vehicles currently in use.
