The introduction of the main battle tank "Leopard" 2 in 1980 posed special challenges to the troops in the first years. This publication describes these first hurdles and describes in detail in words and pictures the first manoeuvre missions of the "Leopard" 2A0 and "Leopard" 2A1 during the Army Exercise 1984 "Nimble Hedgehog", the Army Exercise 1985 "Defiant Saxons" and the Army Exercise 1986 "Franconian Shield" in interaction with the other large vehicle equipment deployed by the Bundeswehr and the participating allied forces.
