The Mesozoic era, also known as the Earth's Middle Ages or Mesozoic period, is an Earth age that began about 252.2 million years ago and ended about 66 million years ago. It is divided into Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. Within the history of the Earth, the Mesozoic is the middle period of the Phanerozoic. In this eon, the Mesozoic follows the Palaeozoic (Earth's Palaeolithic) and is succeeded by the Cenozoic (Earth's Neolithic).
