The oldest railway line in Holstein has connected Altona and Kiel since 1844. Pinneberg is also on this line and was given its own station even then. Passenger traffic began with one morning and one afternoon train as well as one goods train daily. Along the railway line, which was only single-track at the beginning, additional stops were set up in addition to the regular stations, such as in Prisdorf and Halstenbek. At first, however, the trains only stopped here when needed. Halstenbek was given a proper railway station in 1883, Prisdorf not until 1911. Reinhard Schlifke, a profound expert on Holstein railway history, tells the story of the Pinneberg, Prisdorf and Halstenbek railway stations with the help of over 200 historical photographs and documents. The mostly unpublished old photographs and documents from the period from 1890 to 1989 show the creation of the line facilities and buildings, the train operation and its development. Of course, the passengers, for whom this line still provides the connection to the metropolis of Hamburg, are not to be missed. This informative illustrated book invites all friends of Holstein railway history on a journey into the past and offers the opportunity to rediscover what was thought to be long forgotten.
