Six months before the start of World War 2, the author Bruno Friesen was sent to Germany by his father. Three years later he was drafted into service in the Wehrmacht. Between 1942 and 1945, as a tank gunner of a Panzer IV and Jagdpanzer IV, he experienced the battles against the Red Army in Romania, Lithuania and West Prussia. He has compiled his experiences in this volume.
