The Turkish army fought in Palestine (during Ottoman rule) against Arab Bedouin tribes and in World War 1, 1914-1918, alongside Germany and Austria against the British-Australian troops of General Allenby. Famous are the battles of Gallipoli and Gaza and the actions of Lawrence of Arabia against the Turkish positions in Aqaba and Damascus.
