The Boxer Rebellion (1899-1900). The so-called Boxer Movement, a secret society of young men gifted in martial arts, set out to drive the detested foreigners out of China by force. They destroy churches, kill missionaries and Chinese Christians - the imperial court looks on. In the spring of 1900, the uprising advances from the provinces to Beijing.
