The first part of this volume brings together a series of plates by Quinto Cenni and partly by his son Italo, created around 1910, the period to which the uniform illustrations presented here also refer. They were part of an edition by the Milanese publisher E. M. Viscardini from the same years. They show Italian soldiers before the outbreak of the First World War and also shortly before the Libyan War.
Many pictures show the army's manoeuvres in the Italian countryside. The published figures are lightly watercoloured, in contrast to the first edition, which appeared sepia and monochrome. In the second part, the reader will find a varied collection of illustrations by Quinto Cenni depicting themes from the Risorgimento, from the uprisings of 1821 to Garibaldi, etc., and others devoted to the Italian army in the years between 1870 and 1900.
