(The Old Dessau), Anhalt, 1745 Leopold I, called The Old Dessau (* 3 July 1676 in Dessau; 7 April 1747 ibid), from the House of Askanien was Prince of Anhalt-Dessau from 1693 until his death. He also served as a Prussian army reformer under Frederick William I and as field marshal general under Frederick II. He fought in the Silesian Wars and was victorious at the Battle of Kesselsdorf. Leopold I is one of the most important commanders of his time.
