Kaman developed the "Seasprite" for the US Navy, specifically for use on ships. The type was adopted in 1962 and remained in service for more than 30 years, seeing combat both in Vietnam and during Operation Desert Storm. The "Seasprite" performed excellently in a variety of roles, including anti-submarine warfare and search and rescue missions. Author Wayne Mutza served as an Army helicopter crew chief during the Vietnam War and has authored more than two dozen books on military history and technology.
