During World War II, 1785 Luftwaffe officers and enlisted men earned the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, the highest German award for valour in World War II. Exemplary of all these, this volume contains detailed biographies as well as the official effectiveness and promotion reports on 60 recipients of the Knight's Cross. In addition, there are a further 79 biographies of Luftwaffe commanders who themselves submitted such reports as well as promotion and award proposals.
