Volume 3 of the series "Fotografiert von Soldaten". Many German fighter squadrons and fighter groups of the Second World War are the subject of detailed publications with a large number of photographs. One group that has been largely forgotten until today is the I.(J)/LG 2. Although fighter pilots such as Ihlefeld, Geißhardt, Marseille, Harder, Strakeljahn or Kemethmüller, who later became the talk of the town, made their first enemy flights and achieved success, the photographic material available to the interested public is limited.

With Volume 3 of the series "Photographs by Soldiers", all fighter plane enthusiasts can now take a look at unique photographic material. The basis for this book is the colour slide legacy of an unnamed war correspondent who accompanied the I.(J)/LG 2 from the Channel in 1941, over the Balkans to Russia. In 1942, he experienced the renaming to I./JG 77. At JG 77, the picture reporter took the last pictures in summer 1942, which show the Commodore of the squadron, Maj. Gollob, and his machines. The colour photographs provide completely new and unexpected insights into camouflage paints, squadron colours and emblems. To complete the overall picture of the I.(J)/LG 2's operations, the colour slides were supplemented by impressive, unknown b/w footage from various estates of airmen and technicians of the group.
