The Cross The cross of the Order of the Temple is a cross of paws: All the beams are of equal length and widen from the inside to the outside, the centre being relatively compact and the outside flat. The cross of paws in Christian symbolism stands for the sufferings of Christ; the colour red is the symbol of the blood shed by Christ, but also of life. In 1147, Pope Eugene III granted the Templars fünal rights to the cross of paws.
