After the change of leadership at McLaren in March 2009, the previous success was expected to continue under the aegis of Martin Whitmarsh. However, the team scored just 71 points at the end of the year. In the 2010 season, McLaren wants to build on previous victories. Intensive work by the engineers and the test drives in Valencia gave rise to hopes for a better course. In addition, the two world champions of the last two years form the driver team, a combination that has never existed before. Hamilton, the 2008 world champion, was already able to secure 15 points for himself in Bahrain, a pretty good basis for the races still to come.
