Background information
From 1941, the Bristol Beaufighter MK.VI established itself as one of the RAF's most feared night fighters. With its powerful Hercules engines and improved aerodynamics thanks to the modified tailplane, the MK.VI variant proved particularly effective in the Mediterranean and the Pacific. The RAAF successfully deployed the Beau, as it was affectionately known, on reconnaissance missions and attacks on Japanese ships.
